More murder of pets by cops.

Duke is a 3 1/2 yr old American Bulldog mix unfairly being labeled as "dangerous." Description In a head-shaking legal mess in Ohio, a single mom (Carissa Curry) is facing charges after her "pit-like" dog (Duke) bit a would-be intruder while she was at work. The ‘victim’ claims that the dog was outside her fenced yard and attacked him; Duke is not an outside dog, however, and does not stay in the yard unless he is with family. In the courts, roles have been essentially reversed: The Lucas County Dog Warden is pressing charges against Carissa, treating her as the criminal. This calls to mind the Pennsylvania burglar who sued homeowners after he got stuck in their garage. Every viewer who saw that story was left shaking his head over justice gone wrong. To complicate matters, Carissa has no funds for legal defense. As a single mom, she has pulled herself up by her bootstraps to better herself and her 2-year-old son. She recently saved enough to move out of her parents' home and into a rental home. At the urging of fans, Carissa set up a website for donations; to this point, it has garnered more than $650. Given the potential publicity, however, it would be worth an attorney's time to champion her cause for reduced fees. Another interesting aspect is that Carissa is a huge animal advocate. In addition to raising Duke and a litter of kittens, she recently nursed a dehydrated young fox back to life. It is now awaiting release at a wildlife rehabilitation center. The consequences of a "dangerous dog" label are severe: If convicted, Duke will carry the label forever. Carissa will have to pay $100 a year to license him. She will have to completely enclose her yard, as if caging a bear. Duke will have to be muzzled anytime he leaves his yard. And Carissa fears eviction and could lose her job in home health care. Please join Carissa's supporters to get Duke cleared of any unjust laeling from this ridiculous incident.
