SHAME ON YOU SPAIN! HAVEN'T YOU EVOLVED?

SO it was not enough to have bull fights which cannot be called a fight.

In Medinaceli, a picturesque town in the province of Soria, Spain, a "tradition" called "Toro Júbilo" brings shame on Spain. On the second weekend in November, balls of pitch (a sticky black substance made from tar or turpentine) will once again be stuck onto the horns of a bull and set on fire. The burning bull is called "Toro de Fuego" (literally "bull on fire").he bull is then released onto the streets and can do nothing but run around in pain. The bull often smashes into walls in an attempt to douse the fire. The agony the bull must suffer is unimaginable. These fiery balls can burn for hours, and they burn the bull's horns, body and eyes and cause tremendous stress – all while spectators cheer and run around the victim.

Elderly and Dogs...the final parallel

Death panels for humans? To anyone who thought that was just hilarious...I have something for you to think about. What would cause there to be death panels? Too many patients and not enough doctors.Too much illness and not enough resources or hospitals. No room at the Inn? Hypocrites. So now we have a parallel here. Death Panels have always existed for dogs. They must adhere to those standards that are just unreasonable or they don't get to live. Someone decides who must live and who must die. Hypocrites. Thus far, dogs and humans did not suffer the same treatment. But just wait.....

Dogs cannot choose. They are at the will, mercy, and hands of sometimes fools. And sometimes those fools are the very people who are helping them. Take for instance those strict standards adopted by some shelters in their effort to prepare an animal for adoption. Some rules one would never impose upon a human who has the ability to think for themselves and/or the ability to understand a certain behavior must be hidden, abandoned for their own sake and well being. But if there was a person who is very old, very sick and at the mercy of others, it wouldn't matter how much they understood because they just couldn't change their circumstances. That puts them in the same category as a dog who does not understand some of their behavior will send them to the death panel.

Let's take just one example of what will send a dog to the death chamber at most shelters or rescue groups. Food aggression. How could a dog that has been starved, beaten and probably never saw a bowl of food just for him/her, be blamed for defending it? This, I believe is just the most stupid of all the reasons and there are many for not allowing an otherwise great animal to find a home. I would like to hear your thoughts. And you can post them at the bottom of this post. Meanwhile, more on this at this site:
(and of course there are the ones who defend this)

JOHN TRAVOLTA'S DOGS KILLED VERY SAD

Travolta’s 2 dogs killed in airport accident
BANGOR, Maine - A service vehicle at Maine's Bangor International Airport has struck and killed two dogs owned by John Travolta.

The city says the accident happened after an airplane carrying members of Travolta's family landed early last Thursday and the dogs were being walked. The city issued the statement after the Bangor Daily News newspaper confirmed the accident through an e-mail from the city manager to the City Council.

A Travolta spokesman hasn't returned a telephone message left Monday seeking comment.
The "Saturday Night Fever" and "Pulp Fiction" actor is an accomplished pilot who often flies to Bangor while en route to his home on Islesboro, off the Maine coast. It's unclear whether he was in the cockpit the night his dogs died.

Airport Director Rebecca Hupp says her deepest sympathies are with the Travolta family.

Pill-Popping Pitbull Needs Viagra to Live

Meet Ingrid, a pitbull perhaps taking more Viagra than any man could afford to take on Long Island.

"It saved Ingrid's life. Without Viagra we wouldn't have her with us today," said Jodi Record.

Ingrid has to pop the blue pills just to stay alive, according to her caregiver Record.

"She takes two pills twice a day," said Record.Ingrid, who takes her time getting around, was rescued by workers here at Little Shelter in Huntington, NY some two years ago.

"She spent her life tied to a fence and when we found her she had 14 pounds of fluid on her abdomen," said Record.

The pup, whose cheery disposition defies her hard luck, was used as a "bait" dog to incite dog fights, according to her profile on Little Shelter's website. In addition, Ingrid was diagnosed with heartworm and a severe heart condition that needed immediate regulation to keep her alive.

A veterinarian would suggest Viagra as a solution to keep the small pooch up and running, saving her life. And it appears to be working.

"Viagra opens up the blocked vessels that go to the heart so it allows the blood to flow through the body," said Record.

Who keeps the supply of Viagra pouring in? A list of generous guys in the area.

"If every man in America that has Viagra sends one pill to Ingrid that will be keeping her alive for several years," said Record.

Ingrid is now searching for a place to call home. And whoever chooses to adopt the dog will receive a lifetime supply of Viagara pills to care for the pooch. A good home and loving family would be nice to add to that prescription.

If you are interested in adopting Ingrid call 631-368-8770 or find out more online.

COPS MURDER FAMILY PET AND WOUND ANOTHER.

IT'S A DOG YOU IDIOTS! But this is not the first time cops have invaded a home whether for good reason or not and killed the family pet. This is beyond disgraceful. How in the hell would one expect a pet to react at the presence of screaming high pitched strange voices in the home?
The police chief is backing up his officers' actions.

"Every indicator to me shows that this was a justifiable shooting. The dog was aggressive and the dog got shot," OH OF COURSE YOU ARE.What else would you say Chief?
These officers need to be fired. If they are that nervous and their only answer is the death of a pet, they have no business being a policeman. And all of this was for what? A small amount of drugs....totally disgraceful and beneath contempt. Read it all and if you watch the videos...at your own risk for it is sad and horrific..

COLUMBIA, Mo - The shooting death of a pit bull in a SWAT team raid is bringing about policy changes in the Columbia, Missouri Police Department.

A SWAT team raided a home in Columbia and during the raid, shot and killed the family's pit bull. They also shot and injured a corgi. YouTube video of the raid shows a child was also in the home at the time.

The police chief is backing up his officers' actions.

"Every indicator to me shows that this was a justifiable shooting. The dog was aggressive and the dog got shot," Chief Ken Burton said. The Columbia Daily Tribune reports that SWAT officers found a grinder, a pipe and a small amount of marijuana in the home.

Columbia's mayor said changes will be made to the policy police officers follow when executing a search warrant.

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Columbia police chief said Monday his officers will follow tighter rules for serving drug search warrants in the college town after a video showing a botched raid -- and the shooting death of a suspected dealer's dog -- received widespread attention on the Internet.

The Columbia Police Department has been besieged by criticism from animal lovers who saw a video of a February raid in which SWAT team officers shot and killed a pit bull. A second dog, a corgi, was wounded but survived.

The dog's owner was arrested on misdemeanor marijuana charges while his wife and 7-year-old son watched. Police said they had been tipped he had felony quantities of "high-grade" marijuana.

The Columbia Daily Tribune posted a police video of the raid on its Web site May 3. By Monday, the video had logged nearly 900,000 hits on YouTube.

"We realize we did some things wrong," Police Chief Ken Burton said. "We've fixed those things. The public can be assured that a similar incident will not happen again."

The new policy requires higher-ranking police captains to approve drug search warrants rather than narcotics sergeants or SWAT commanders. Police also will consider whether the presence of children should curtail a raid and serve warrants sooner after a judge signs them.

They waited eight days after obtaining a warrant to search 25-year-old Jonathan Whitworth's home.

TENNESSEE FLOODS REMEMBER THE OTHER VICTIMS.THE ANIMALS

Here is but one story.A bittersweet story.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Cathy Moreland was in Dallas when her Pennington Bend home was submerged to the gutters over the weekend. Her only thought was for her animals to be saved.

Special Section: Flood Emergency | Survey | Watch This Story

Her brother, Judge Casey Moreland, and her son, Casey Weaver, made a desperate attempt: They got a dog out first, and then on to the six horses. Three horses were saved, two died and one was missing. Casey Moreland and Casey Weaver battled off snake after snake in the pitch-black, chest-high water.

Then, an old high school friend called Cathy Moreland and said she thought she saw her horse on Channel 4, but nowhere near her house.

"I didn't want to get my hopes up because that was way too far," said Cathy Moreland. "Fourteen miles, I mean, that is a long way for a horse ... There's no way that that could be my horse."

But 14 miles away, there was Cole -- a few cuts scrapes and bruises, but otherwise healthy as a horse.

"I can't even describe it. I just sat there, just shaking," Cathy Moreland said.

She boated out, waded out and took Cole to safety.

"I hate about the ones that we did lose, but I'm thrilled at what we do have," she said.
